PR 101: Digital Visual Storytelling

All of you PR pros out there must be getting so excited about all the social media changes that are going on lately. I know I am! Facebook just bought Instagram, check out the Mashable article; brands are jumping on Pinterest, check out the Mashable article; the Facebook timeline is image dominant, check out the Social Media Examiner article. Those are just a few great things that have popped up lately.

The $1 billion purchase of Instagram by Facebook has been the most recent development. I have been tracking brand building on Instagram since I started filtering pictures myself. Since it’s Thursday, not too much is going on, and it’s a great day to get lost in our favorite social media sites, I thought I’d post three of my favorite brands on Instagram. They’re doing some great things that we can all learn from:

Redbull – They’re my favorite consumer brand to watch on Instagram. They’re really heading the charge. Things like their photo contests, their constant communication with fans, and their constant uploading set them apart. If you’re not following them yet, you should think about it.

Bergdorf’s – This is one of my favorite fashion brands to watch. Not only do they post pictures of the fashion – which is important – but they post pictures of Paris and New York. They do amazing brand imaging which makes them unique. I think we’re only going to continue to see amazing things from them.

Luxury PR Gal – Now she’s just a guilty favorite. She lives the life I one day hope to and she lets me glimpse into it every day. Whether she’s eating at the fanciest restaurant or going to a fabulous beach in the Caribbean, her pictures are always beautiful and inspiring.

Happy Thursday everyone! I’m going to go enjoy my Spring Fling. It’s a spring carnival at my school and they’re playing “Call Me Maybe” which I have to get out and dance to. Happy pinning, snapping, tumbling, instagraming, or Facebook stalking. Which ever poison you pick, as long as you love it you’ll never get bored.
